In a departure from previous conferences held in the Malaysian capital Kuala Lumpur, the fourth Asia Pacific Technical Conference will take place in Penang, a tropical island that lies in the Indian Ocean just off the northwest coast of Peninsula Malaysia. Often referred to as the 'Pearl of the Orient', Penang is one of the most picturesque and romantic of all Asian cities.

Our past three conferences have been attended by over 300 participants from 14 countries. This year's two-and-a-half day event will feature an exciting programme designed to benefit all operators of Rolls-Royce industrial equipment including presentations on Rolls-Royce Product Upgrades, Unit Health Monitoring, Fuel Gas and Lube Oil Issues, and many other topics that are close to the heart of Rolls-Royce customers. A few selected vendors have also been invited to showcase the equipment that supports Rolls-Royce packages in service.

An off-site dinner will be held at Fort Cornwallis, an interesting landmark of a wooden stockade erected in 1786. It was replaced with a stone and brick structure built by convict labors in 1804. Today, Fort Cornwallis is a popular historical site equipped with a tourist kiosk, a cafe, an open-air amphitheatre, a history gallery and a souvenir centre - an RM1.9 million restoration project completed by the Malaysian Government in 2001.

An 18-hole Golf Match and a tour of the Penang Island are available on the third afternoon of the conference for delegate's enjoyment and to provide an opportunity to spend some leisure time with colleagues and friends on the last day of the conference. The only cost for participation in this event is the associated travel, hotel accommodation and incidental expenses. A detailed program will be sent out to all registered participants nearer to the conference date.
